The importance of Gratitude

Thursday, September 26, 2013

Want to be happier? This is copied verbatim from George Takei's facebook page; I don't usually forward messages (in fact, I never do), but this one is totally worth it. Please take a look.....

"Try this today: Close your eyes, and think of someone who has been a strong influence and is important to you, and who made a positive impact on your life--maybe a family member, a love, a teacher, a friend.

Are your eyes closed? They aren't if you're reading this.
Work with me, friends! Close them and think before reading on.

* * *

Okay, now write down a few sentences about why that person is special to you, as if describing the person to someone else. We can all take a minute or two to do this, especially if that person really meant something to us.

Have you written down your thoughts? read on.

* * *

Watch this video. NO CHEATING! You must have first closed your eyes, thought of that person, and written down your thoughts. THEN watch this, and follow their lead."

    That was an unbelievable science experiment on happiness...I didn't write anything down but just the idea & feelings I focused on gave me a happy warm feeling that I so needed today!!!

My husband is the one person I am so grateful to have in my life!!!

    Mine was my sister, she has passed away. I miss her every day. She would have loved Spark people.

    My mom has been the biggest influence on my life! I talk to her every day and tell her how much I love her!

    I did it. I thought of a woman named Janice who is the mom of my high school best friend. I wrote about how she made me feel loved and supported. She showed me such warmth and she took care of me in one of the hardest times in my life. She taught me many many things and she will forever be someone that I adore.

I wrote her a letter about a year ago and let her know how much she means to me. She changed my life just by being in it.

Thanks Jamie!
