It's always something.

So this week has been a bit of a challenge, which given my last two weeks of success is pretty depressing! But I am trying to keep looking on the good side, because it's not all that "bad".

Diet is fairly decent and I am down 1lb from last week, that puts me at 180 - so close to getting back in the 170's! So close. If I can keep on track I have a good chance of making it.

My body is rebelling with the exercise. First I had no motivation on Tuesday, and now for my Thursday run - I get going 5 minutes into it - and my foot hurts, then my ankle, then my knee, it hit my hip - and I was like OKAY - I am listening and took it back to a walk for a 1/2 hour. Sigh.

What did I do to my foot? Nothing I can think of.

It doesn't hurt now, only when I was trying to run. It doesn't even feel stiff or achy. I am wondering if I just ran my shoes out. So (fingers-crossed) it's the running shoes I was trying to push through another 1/2. Even though these sneakers are not that old, they have a lot of miles on them. I find them uncomfortable to even walk in. Reminds me of when my old ones went 1 week before my 1st half - and I ran in them anyways - and probably suffered more for it then I needed to. My 2nd half - that I trained less for - I had less body aches. So lesson learned - time to buy new shoes- ASAP.

So - somehow I need to pull running shoe money out of the budget - and find time to go buy them. AND break them in. Hopefully this is what the issue is - an injury at this point - wouldn't be good. I refuse to stress about this - new running shoes are suppose to be a FUN experience.

So looks like Saturday is going to be a whatever run - which actually will be nice. My daughter wanted to run with me this weekend, but she is thinking 2-3 miles, and I was trying to figure out how to fit that into my 8 miles, and not have her run too far by herself.

So easy run weekend!

I also can tell how my exercise/diet suffers the more "crap" that's on my calendar. And this week I have been booked solid for most of it, and with co-workers (and their kids) getting sick left and right, it's been pretty stressful. That explains how blaa - I am feeling.

So far, next week looks a lot better, and if it starts getting crazy, I am going to schedule my own appointments to WORK on stuff.

Then in less than 2 weeks I am headed off to a conference in Chicago! Love conferences - it's like a work paid vacation! And you get to meet and learn all kinds of neat stuff. Stay in a nice hotel. No kids, no husbands, no one to please but yourself! Pretty awesome.

My October is going to be fairly nuts.
Next week (8 miles)
Week of the 7th Conference (9 miles)
Week of the 14th Lots of Professional Development that I am training (10 miles)
Week of the 21st - My mommy comes and my race is on the 26th.

Yikes that means I have 30 days till race day!

I felt I needed a new pair of running shoes before my half marathon but I didn't because I felt I didn't give myself enough break in time. I really wish that I would have so good job for you listening to your body. Hope you have an easy time finding new ones! Good luck with your race next month.
