Planning for BLC23

Thursday, September 26, 2013

In BLC23, I'm a member of the Steely Sapphire Soldiers, and I think this team is a great fit for me! Lots of encouragement and structure, so I'll know what to do to succeed. Sapphire Strong!

My plan is less detailed than plans I've written previously, because I'm usually too ambitious at this stage in a new round, and I assume I'll do everything consistently and perfectly all through the round. That's simply not realistic, and it leads to disappointment when I don't meet my own expectations.

So, then - what's my plan?

Healthier eating habits:
Eat more freggies, fewer processed foods, and healthier fats in smaller amounts.

Increased water intake:
Establish a habit of consistently drinking 8 glasses a day.

Move more:
Commit to 30 minutes of deliberate exercise at least five days each week. (This also meets the criteria for staying on the BLC Streaker team.)

Count steps:
During BLC23, I'll count steps with a pedometer, shooting for 10,000/day.

What are possible fears and obstacles?

I'm not an exercise lover, so I need to find the sweet spot where the exercise is challenging enough to do me some good, but where I still enjoy the overall process.

I used to enjoy certain activities, but now that I'm a bit older, they don't work as well for me as they used to, so time to try some new things.

And one obstacle that I have some control over is making the time to do this. I have a lot going on, but taking care of me needs to be one of my priorities, not an afterthought.

Okay, enough introspection. I think I'm focusing on the right areas, and looking forward to a successful BLC23 round. Bring it on!

Oh the sweet spot- and how it changes!! I started with your goals too :D And now I can exercise more and find more fun in it..but I also have learned when it became obsessive too and have toned back on that!! Good luck for finding your sweet spot this round, you've got a great start to it!

Sue - I once NEVER exercised. Just "step into it". Don't try to run a 10K out of the box. Just walk to the end of the driveway and back then go a little further the next day. Success breeds success.

You can do it!

I'm looking for that "sweet spot" too! I want to be more physically active but also enjoy while I am doing it. My gym is offering Bodyvive and Zumba classes so I will try those next week.

I really like your goals Sue- the basic structure is there but there is room for modification as you go along. You also thought out the possible roadblocks and how to deal with them.

Glad you're enjoying the Sapphire Team :) Suzanne helps set you up for success emoticon
