Night Shift is over!

Thursday, September 26, 2013

Last night was my last night as a PICU night shift to work and my co-workers and intensivists had organized a little party - lost count of tracking!

Had a great time, they had also got me a princess bundt cake! I had a small piece :) Very yummy! This morning more nurses and intensivist turned up with bagels, starbucks coffee and toppings for breakfast before I left. Feeling loved! Then another nurse wanted to meet me on my way home for another breakfast!!!

I am going to miss all my PICU friends emoticon but I am still at the same hospital so will still get to see them. Has been an emotional time. So the medical director gets together with the director of the pediatric service and as I am a salaried exempt employee I thought I could not do any bedside nursing. But the two of them got talking and the director is going to go to HR to get me a secondary employment status!!!! I am so excited! I would then be able to pick up some shifts on a casual basis but would be paid for my bedside nursing as a flat rate and not be eligible for overtime money. I am OK with that as I want to keep my skills up and get to still work with my PICU friends from time to time. SO will see what they can work out!

So my tears turned to dancing! emoticon

Excited to start my new job, hope I am up for the challenge! I start Monday morning!
