My youngest daughter turned 10 yesterday but since I was forging through the "6 days of hell" with work we couldn't go out to celebrate. Tonight I had off so we let her pick where she wanted to go. She initially chose Golden Corral (yikes), then it was Wingstop (seriously people?), finally we got her to settle on Chili's because they have some lighter options and the ribs she likes so much.
Before we left I had worked out and ate a small snack of yogurt and a hard boiled egg. This made it so much easier to look at the menu clearly and not convince myself I 'deserved" to cheat and order something huge and calorie busting. I got the Lighter Choice 6 oz. sirloin (250 calories) that came with steamed broccoli and as my 11 pound weight loss treat I got a side of cinnamon apples (210 calories). The rest of the family got boneless buffalo wings for an appetizer (I ate one) and then a huge dessert to share (that I didn't touch). I left full and satisfied. More importantly I wasn't guilt ridden or feeling like a failure.
