I took my mother out to the local State Park for some fishing, whatever we could catch with worms and a bobber. The day was beautiful here in W. Michigan, but the fish weren't biting in the locations we tried. Because I was with her, and we were on the shore and not in a boat, I didn't want to hike a long distance to find fish, we fished areas around a handicapped fishing dock, some spots around that parking area, and then moved on to the boat launch dock.
Now I know it isn't proper etiquette to fish from the boat launch dock, that is there for boaters and people fishing on it are in the way, but there weren't any boats out on the water today. From that dock we finally found some fish, small bluegills and a couple of yellow perch. We had less than a mess in the bucket when we were tired of fishing so they were released.
On the way home we stopped at a farm stand and stocked up on winter squash, the last of this year's corn on the cob, and a melon. It was a fun afternoon I spent with my mother and the first time she has gotten out fishing in about 5 years! The only thing that could have made the day any better would be a large bucket full of panfish.
