It's Peace Month in my city. I participated in an International Day of Peace event with over a thousand children. We did chalk drawing along a bike path.
They had some good thoughts...
I woke up hearing "We are family". The song floated in my head, and I thought about that.
Sometimes we don't like our family. Sometimes our family members are the hardest ones to love. Yet no matter the relationship, when they die we feel something. Sometimes it's deep sadness for what it could have been.
Creating a peaceful world goes beyond feel good songs and once a year events. It's a struggle. It's hard. But those little breakthroughs we have when we connect with someone who does not look like us, are hopeful signs we can still do this.
It's too beautiful to dismiss as impossible.
