Blood pressure victory!

I must admit I was very excited with having my bloodpressure checked yesterday – the company nurse came around and I mailed her to bring the extra wide cuff that is needed for me. Breathed some in beforehand and really concentrated in getting myself calm...130/85! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

In the beginning of this summer it was 145/95 and as I have been spoiled with good values despite my overweight, it really worried me. The company nurse was nice enough to be very impressed and asked how I had done this, and I was allowed to brag a little.

Phoned my sister to brag to her as well (she is a retired nurse) and she told me as well that it was tremendous results in such a short time. The lower number is usually a bit harder to change she said and now she is happy that her little sister has a better chance of being around a while longer...

I think three things has accomplished this: weightloss, exercise and mental training.

It will be tough to make it be even lower but that is my goal.

This week I also have to decide what goal to set up for my weightloss for the rest of the year, it occupies my thoughts a lot. The first period is ending friday, when I joined that support group I set six kilos as a goal for fourteen weeks, my main focus on the chance to succeed. It turned out I made it great and I have adjusted my goal two times, first to nine kilos and then to ten.

There is 13 weeks left of 2013. I would very much wish to lose another ten kilos and my achievement so far has shown that it is possible. Bit I don´t know if the pressure will make me go into too much of an obsession.. to lose 0,8 kilo every week is what I have done so far, I am getting more fit and it is easier to exercise, but on the other hand... it is getting darker outside and will be harder to get going with exercise, as I lose weight it is also getting harder to lose more... well I will wait until saturday to decide, depending on if I lose some this week as well. The number will be between six and ten kilos and I will probably go for the lower number....

Today is payday and I think I will spend 149 Skr(23 USD) on the "Numbers" program. A reward to get a program that will enable me to make really pretty spreadsheets with all the numbers I collect in this project....

    Another example of you setting a goal, making a plan, and achieving! I too am lucky in the BP area despite being so overweight, so if it does start to sneak upward it's very alarming. Good for you for taking such quick action!

I agree with you on the lower number. SMART goals are achievable and we're headed into a really difficult time of year. If you lose more, that's a bonus and it feels so great to "adjust" that goal for more. You are doing great, it IS about health!

Wonderful results, Meddy, write it on a note to remind yourself of it later!

I keep thinking about getting a recumbent bike to use for exercise in winter when it's cold and slippery outside. I would have gotten one already except we don't have enough room in our tiny apartment.

I have a suggestion instead of kilos this time try to reduce measurements around waist and thighs etc. Vary your challenge. Just a thought.
