Mo' Doctors, Mo' Problems

Today was the appointment with my new endo. She was super nice, so there was that. We had a long appointment, she didn't seem rushed at all. {Which was good, cause I waited over 45 mins for her to come in.} Unfortunately the biggest thing I learned is that I may have Cushing's Disease. I didn't know what it was an started looking it up. Then I started finding scary things. So I stopped, and decided I will just wait and see what happens with the test results. Working myself into a tizzy now won't do anyone any good. D@mn interwebs!

She's also doing all sorts of testing with my hormones. I never have periods, and she said it's probably because I have PCOS, but she wants to test everything anyway. Tomorrow I have an appt with an ob/gyn in the same network, so hopefully she won't feel the need to redo the tests the endo did today. I doubt she will have the results, but at least the tests will be done. The endo said that, barring finding something crazy with my hormones, I will just be put on birth control and that will be that. Hopefully it will be so simple.

Okay, now all the scary/crappy medical stuff out of the way...

This morning was AWESOME! I slept through the night last night until 6 am. From 6 til 7:30 I laid there trying to sleep some more, but it didn't really work. At 7:30 I got up and got dressed and got some caffeine. {Hey, I'm cutting back... not quitting! lol} Once the brain fog went away, I decided to get up and get my exercise on. I got dressed and gathered my phone and my pedometer. When I was ready to go, I got the Zombies, Run! app going, and got started on the mission. I really do like this app. Having a story line for why you are doing what you are doing is cool, and I like that it also mixes in some tunes. I felt much less spry this morning than I did yesterday morning, so I wasn't sure I would make it through the entire mission, but I DID! 36 minutes again. Except this time there were 10 HIIT reps in it. It was supposed to be running, but I did walking. And lemme tell ya... I was WIPED when I was done. Climbing back up the stairs was a chore. But I felt great, I felt a huge sense of accomplishment. WONDERFUL way to get the day started.

Eating has been fine, too. I tried veggie sausage this morning, but I didn't like it. Didn't like the Boca links, anyway. I'm still gonna give the Morning Star ones a try and see if those are better. I ate on plan all morning, including lunch at noon. My endo appt was at 3 and I figured I would be home by our usual 4 or 4:30 dinner time. I was wrong. It was almost 6:30 when I got home. I was starving, and my blood sugar was starting to drop... and also, I was about to eat the steering wheel... BUT I did good! I had planned to get a broccoli and cheese baked potato and a Caesar side salad for dinner, but when I was 2 hours late getting food, I knew that wasn't going to be enough. So I had to let my vegetarianism slide for the day, and had a grilled chicken samich and chili. I came home and immediately checked my blood sugar, and even though it wasn't quite low enough to be considered "a low" by medical standards, it was low for me, and I was starting to feel crappy. Note to self: Take something sweet to dr appts in case I'm stuck that long again. And since I have another appointment tomorrow... I guess I get a chance to practice.

And now I am going to lay down and relax. I've been far busier today than I am used to and I'm pooped. Hope everyone had a great Tuesday!

getting that workout in first thing is the best - haven't been so good at that since school got back in for the kids, can't get my butt out of bed :) I'm so proud of you for sticking to your plan! You are doing amazing. Good luck with the docs, you are right, no sense worrying about things that may or may not be.

I understand how you feel about all of the testing. I'm dealing with fertility issues and I feel like all I've done for the past few years is get lab work done. Still no solution, though...just a lot of blood draws. I hear ya, sister!

Sorry, Cant say I know anything about Cushings. Glad to hear you liked the Endo doc. Good realtionships with docs always go a long ways to health improvements. Ands they - in my opinion - are far better to help manage diabetes than regular PCP's. My wife got lucky enough to get a nurse practitioner who has spent 10+ years working with/understudy of an endo. Shes great and has really helped my wife out.
I have really got to check out the Zombies... lol

Sounds like you had a really good day. Keep; me posted on your Dr. visits. I'm so sorry I've missed a couple days talking to you. My dumb computer gets big attitude problems and decides not to work. It stinks. I'm so happy you slept all last night. That's a big deal!! Have a great Wed.

I hope everything works out with your tests!

I don't know much about Cushings - I was tested for it before too, and they came back negative.

I think it is also great you are working on more vegetarian type things. I was one for a lot of years, but went back to eating animal products. I always hated the faux meats. They were gross! Although, the Boca Chicken patties were ok.

Let me know how you make out on your tests!

Good luck on these tests! I hope everything turns out ok!

Sounds as if you had a great day, even with the wanting to eat the steering wheel. (been there!)
