I just made a photograph for BLC23 (a member-created challenge on Sparkpeople). I always take a picture each round so I can "see" my progress over the 12 week period. A friend of mine sent me a "before picture" I did not have. It kindly had my larger half (I'm a pear) cropped out but even still you can see the change. This photograph was probably around 320 (I got up past 350). I put it side by side to show the progress.
The reason I'm sharing this is to ENCOURAGE you. Somewhere out there, perhaps reading this blog, is someone that is where I began. It's NOT hopeless. It IS possible. Granted, it took time (3 years) but I'm down over 100 pounds. My goal is now on the horizon though still at a distance. I know I will make it now!
Just start! Start with your supper! Don't wait 'til tomorrow. Plan a healthy supper then close the kitchen. Add 10 minutes of fitness to that and you are on your way!
Yep, that's how I did it. I counted calories. I added exercise. I kept making small changes that added up to big ones (giving up soda, eliminating fries and chips, asking for broccoli instead of a potato, etc.). As many of you know I began by holding on to the kitchen island and walking around it for exercise. Now I have completed two official 5K's and this past week hiked 11. 1 miles in one day in Glacier National Park.
It IS possible. You can do it! Join me on the journey!
