My employer is providing us with hamburgers, hot dogs, cookies, chips, and soda today. I saw many people taking a hamburger and a hot dog in addition to chips and cookies, but I settled for just a hamburger.
I've been eating veggie burgers for years in addition to actual meat. The comments from others never cease to amaze me.
'It's not natural to not eat meat,' they usually quip.
'I'm not a vegetarian,' I reply.
'Then why eat them?'
'Because they're lower in fat, and I'm easily grossed out by meat.'
We're carnivores by nature, but the great thing about being human is having emotions. Bacon is the lining of a pig's stomach. The next time you see a dessert laced with it because of the new fad, just think about that for a while. Forget about how fatty and salty it is, let alone that it's inhumane to put meat in a DESSERT.
Protein is imperative to our diet, but there are now plenty of other sources. I'm a huge fan of Boca Chik'n Patties, especially their spicy variety. A lot of them are higher in sodium, but I've seen many low-sodium options.
I don't regret that cheeseburger, though
