I live in Virginia, in a soggy summer climate. Springs are often short and gardening is a bit of a challenge, especially for the cooler weather crops I like the best (greens, onions, herbs). So this year I am trying an experiment. I planted a "salad bowl" garden on my front porch in a container THIS MONTH (September). Sometimes our Fall season is long, so I am hoping we can have some lovely homegrown lettuce and greens well into October and maybe even November. Wish me luck. In the meantime, isn't it pretty?
Our first harvest will be tonight.
