Back to My Roots

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

Two years ago, I asked my SparkFriends for advice. I'd been working out at home for a long time and Awesome Husband asked if I wanted to join the gym. I didn't want to. It freaked me out. But I wanted to share my exercise experience with him. So we joined the gym.

It's been an excellent two years. I got my deadlift over 200lbs. I got my squat up to 180lbs. I took up running and have become........proficient. Not good. But functional.

But lately, the gym just does not hold any joy for me. Getting up and getting there is hard. And it's hard for Awesome Husband. Our gym is doing renovations and it's a wreck. And honestly, when the renovations are done, it does not seem at all likely that things will be any better. If anything they'll be more cramped. And more expensive.

So right now, we're in the process of looking into expanding our home gym. Mostly we just want an olympic weight set.

And, I have started P90X2. Tonight is plyocide.

We might get a cheap gym membership at Planet Fitness (ugh) to have access to the cardio equipment while we lift big at home. But right now, it's all about starting a new chapter of fitness. And that chapter brings me full circle to where I started.

P90X.

You know...you are doing great with moving on...evaluating where you are...making the changes necessary to get to a better/happier/more satisfied place with your fitness and workouts. Atta girl! And I love your current back pic, BTW. Wow...you look great! Keep up the good work! Thanks for the encouragement! Spark on! emoticon emoticon

I finally have my P90X copy. I didn't start it yet because of my knee but I can't wait to get the green light from the doctor! I think that you will be happy with your plan. Honestly you have been fighting the whole gym thing for a while. I think that there are some of us that are cut out for the gym and others that are not. I personally don't mind going to my gym at work as I know the times it is empty. But going outside it just pisses me off when people use it as a "pick up" place and hog the equipment! LOL

Be sure not to grunt too loud or you'll get kicked out of Planet Fitness! ;)

Enjoy getting back to your roots! You sure do lift heavy!

I hear you - for some reason going to the gym is like a death sentence for me right now, or like going to the dentist. I will come up with any excuse in the book to avoid it and I'm miserable the whole time I'm there. Maybe I need to consider something like p90x?!?! I'm guessing you've seen results? Do you do the full meal plan and all with it or just the exercises? Good luck!!!!!
