ABC's of me. BLC23 1st assignment

A is for ABOVE and BEYOND...Does competition give you an extra push?
I am not an overly competitive person, however, I don’t like coming in last either. I tend to be more competitive on a team because I don’t want to let the team down.

B is for BLC rounds... Newbie?(first BLC round) Oldie?(1-3 rounds) Goldie?(long time BLCer)? Former BLC team(s)?
I have done several rounds of BLC, I believe I started with 15, so this will make my 8th round. I skipped round 21 though…just way too much going on to be committed to a 12 week round.

C is for CHILDREN...you have?
I have 2 sons. Jacob is 23 and Josh is 21. Neither is married, but both live with their girlfriends. Jacob’s girlfriend has a 4 year old son (Payton), who only knows Jacob as his Daddy (Jacob has raised him since shortly before he turned 2). Payton doesn’t call me grandma, he calls me “my Tammy” and I consider him my grandson. I couldn’t be more in love with that little boy!

D is for DOWNFALL...what's you're biggest temptation/excuse?
Chocolate and caramel. Sweet tea. These aren’t my only temptations, these are just the hardest to resist. Excuse? I don’t make an excuse…I have them, just not very often and in very small quantities.

E is for EARLY Bird or Night Owl?
I am, by nature, a night owl. But my job forces me to be an early bird. I get up at 4am, so in all reality, I should get to bed much earlier than the 10pm that is my usual time. On vacation and the weekends, I revert back to a night owl.

F is for FURRY FRIENDS...you have?
I currently have no furry friends of my own. I have a turtle (Red Eared Slider). My youngest son (Josh) has a very large snapping turtle in an aquarium. He has several fish in a separate aquarium and he has Lenny, a 9 year old iguana that is about 6 ft long and weighs about 10 pounds and roams freely in the house. I have a granddog and grandkitty at Jacob’s house.

G is for GROCERIES...what do you fill your cart with?
My cart is filled with a variety. My husband isn’t the least bit interested in eating healthy. Josh and his gf eat healthy about half the time. So, I fill up on fruits, veggies, whole grains, weight watcher products, and lots of dairy. Then you will find potato chips, cookies, frozen pizzas and pizza rolls. These items I try to avoid once I get home (easier said than done).

H is for HOME...where do you call home?
Home is Springfield, MO. I actually grew up a little north of here (in the Columbia area), but have lived her since I was 17, so this is home.

I is for INSPIRE...who or what is your role model/inspiration?
I am inspired by a lot of people. I try to use a little inspiration from many different people. Not just people who have lost weight, but also people who have overcome obstacles and keep moving forward, People who are always kind, no matter how they feel or what is going on in their life, people who do good things for someone who can’t return the favor. I am always amazed at the willpower and dedication of some of the people on SP and in my WW group. I want to be one of those people who exercise regardless of how they may feel, find time no matter what they have going on and the weather doesn’t play a part in whether they go or not…those are the people that inspire me.

J is for JOB...What do you do for a living?
I work in the IT department at a municipal utility. I’ve been here for 16 years and love my job, love my co-workers am proud of where I work. It’s really a good company to work for.

K is for KEEP IT SIMPLE...What's your healthy focus when short on time?
Water!! Even if I don’t exercise and make bad choices food-wise, I always try to get my water in.

L is for LOG...Do you use the Nutrition and Fitness trackers?
I log all of my food and exercise on my weight watchers page. I do try to keep a log on SP during BLC challenges, though. I usually use the quick track for my fitness minutes.

M is for MARRIED, Single, Involved?
Married. November will be 24 years

N is for NAME...What's the meaning behind your sparkname?
Nothing too creative. My first initial, last name and the month/year of my birthday.

O is for OUNCES...How many ounces of water do you consume on a daily basis?
I try to always have at least 64. Depending on what I am doing, sometimes, I drink even more than that.

P is for PRODUCE...How many fruits and veggies do you consume daily?
I usually get 3-6 servings.

Q is for QUOTE...what's your favorite?
I have a lot of sayings/quotes that I like, but probably the 2 that I repeat to myself often are “Don’t give up what you want most for what you want now” (not sure who gets the credit, I’ve seen credit given to multiple people) and “if we are facing in the right direction all we have to do is keep moving” Buddist Saying. These translate to me to say: You know what you want, so just keep moving in that direction…no matter how slowly, just keep going.

R is for ROUTINE...Average number of days and minutes you exercise weekly?
I usually walk 5 days a week. I have started back to jogging, although, it’s hit and miss thanks to a cranky knee. At the gym, I use the treadmill and the elliptical.

S is for STATURE...How tall are you?
5’5”

T is for TIME...What time zone are you in?
Central


U is for UNWIND...What is your favorite pass time or hobby?
I love to go hiking/backpacking, kayaking/canoeing. I enjoy doing crafts (beading, rubber stamping). I also enjoy reading. Spending time with my family is top on my list and being outdoors.

V is for VACATION...If you could travel anywhere, what destination would you choose?
I would love to go to the French Polynesia. I’d also love to visit Ireland and New Zealand. My vacation destinations usually land me on a warm beach.

W is for WEIGHT WORKOUT...Do you follow a consistent ST program?
No. I am hoping to be able to answer this question with a Yes by the end of BLC

X is for "X" MARKS THE SPOT...What do you want to see happen these 12 weeks, other than the scale move?
I want to lose weight, of course. But probably more importantly, I want to tone up. I want to have a weight training routine that I will actually stick with.

Y is for YESTERDAY...Do you dwell on poor choices or allow them to push you forward?
I try not to dwell on the past, although, I do use the past to help me make (hopefully) better decisions in the future.

Z is for ZERO...name one weight loss tool you couldn't live without?
I love my weight watchers online tools. I also consider my ipod a weight loss tool…I couldn’t run without it. I have 2 mp3 players…both have the exact same music. I make sure I always have one with me and fully charged.

    emoticon great blog - I also count my ipod as a workout must - no matter the exercise - so much easier it seems with music :)
I'm not so sure I'd want to meet the 6 ft long iguana though emoticon
