Thank God for my co-workers who wheeled me around. I couldn't function without them. My arm was in a lot of pain today, and it was struggle to get around, but I managed to write on the board with my right and left arm. The writing was hideous but legible. I also managed to wheel myself around toward the end of the day. Good sign but I came home exhausted. (Now, I can't sleep for some unknown reason.)
Today, I brought in some guest speakers to give a presentation to my U.S. Latin American Literature class, so I invited other classes to attend. I have seen a lot of performances and speaking engagements in my lifetime, but I have to say the Teatro de Las Chicanas was not only educational but truly inspiring. There were students in the audience that had real organic transformations, and I have to tell you, I was transformed and re-energized myself.
They spoke about gender and inequality, but also did some street theatre skits like they did in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. The event was a real thing of beauty, and I wish I could see their talk tomorrow, as they have another engagement on campus, but I have a staff meeting with my tutors.
The point is that, there are wonderful moments in life that you just have to sit with and soak up, and this was one of them. I couldn't have been inspired and reminded of what it means to be deeply human than today. They promoted the spirit of peace and compassion.
What could be better than that?
