Coffee

Monday, September 23, 2013

I always hated coffee but sometime in the past ten years I got addicted to it. Once I gave it up but then started to drink it again. So when I planned to have surgery last year and the surgeon told me that I would need to avoid caffeine for a while, I eased myself of it. I really don't need it, especially the way that I was drinking it, with lots and lots of Coffee-Mate, which is not good for me at all! So before the surgery I eased myself off it - I didn't want to go cold turkey after the surgery because I was going to have enough to deal with during the healing time.

Now I can probably have caffeine again but I am not sure how my tummy would react to it, so I limit it to a very occasional iced tea (diluted) or chai tea latte (also diluted with milk). I only have the tea once or twice a week. Otherwise I drink decaf. And every once in a blue moon I will get decaf coffee if we are out for breakfast somewhere. That is pretty rare though. I am training myself to put just a tiny bit of skim milk in it (or a little half and half if skim isn't available). I don't like it as much but I am becoming accustomed to it.

So the other day my beloved husband bought us a Keurig! He did it so that I can have a cup of decaf and he can make his too. I thought that was so sweet and thoughtful. I am most appreciative because I would have never made a pot of decaf coffee for just a cup - this is so convenient and easy. He got me some decaf vanilla bean coffee, and some plain decaf. He also got me some Chai tea K-cups. I just love it, and I certainly love my husband for being such a kind and wonderful man.

I've heard a lot about the Keurig! Your husband is very thoughtful indeed. I am a coffee drinker since I was in my teens, but I only drink lite (half-caffeine) now. I can't even imagine a day without coffee! emoticon

Good for you for not being a coffee addict, and I'm glad that you can now make one cup if you feel like it. Nice little machine! emoticon

We LOVE our Keurig!!!! I drink decaf as well, but hubby likes caffeine in his. The Keurig allows us to make our own individual cups like we like them!!!!!

That was really sweet of your husband. I'm addicted to coffee and I'm weaning myself. I am down to just one cup a day. I would love to have a Keurig so I wouldn't have to make a full pot of coffee that's so tempting not waste.

    Enjoy your gift!
