I always hated coffee but sometime in the past ten years I got addicted to it. Once I gave it up but then started to drink it again. So when I planned to have surgery last year and the surgeon told me that I would need to avoid caffeine for a while, I eased myself of it. I really don't need it, especially the way that I was drinking it, with lots and lots of Coffee-Mate, which is not good for me at all! So before the surgery I eased myself off it - I didn't want to go cold turkey after the surgery because I was going to have enough to deal with during the healing time.
Now I can probably have caffeine again but I am not sure how my tummy would react to it, so I limit it to a very occasional iced tea (diluted) or chai tea latte (also diluted with milk). I only have the tea once or twice a week. Otherwise I drink decaf. And every once in a blue moon I will get decaf coffee if we are out for breakfast somewhere. That is pretty rare though. I am training myself to put just a tiny bit of skim milk in it (or a little half and half if skim isn't available). I don't like it as much but I am becoming accustomed to it.
So the other day my beloved husband bought us a Keurig! He did it so that I can have a cup of decaf and he can make his too. I thought that was so sweet and thoughtful. I am most appreciative because I would have never made a pot of decaf coffee for just a cup - this is so convenient and easy. He got me some decaf vanilla bean coffee, and some plain decaf. He also got me some Chai tea K-cups. I just love it, and I certainly love my husband for being such a kind and wonderful man.
