A Walk on the Not so Wild Side

Monday, September 23, 2013

And now for something a little different.

Yes, I've already blogged today, but that was for the weekend. It's been difficult to keep up with things as the internet hasn't cooperated, but at the moment it is holding out! If you read the earlier post you will know that the weekend was busy, and I honestly intended to use today as a rest day........ but

...... I went into the garden to take a photograph of this rose,

felt the sun on my back.....

and couldn't resist going out to enjoy it. It was almost sunset, so it was 'now or never'. I also decided that a walk around the roads would be a change - so here are some urban views for you.

I love that tree on the left! These photos were 'shot from the hip' on the move and without focussing or consideration, some are better than others, but they are all from today.

Walking in the shadows! You can see the contrast - the September sun was strong.

But the shadows are lengthening

and - you never know who you might catch in them emoticon

Don't forget that we drive on the left here in the UK, the white line down the centre is only on roads over a certain width, and ensure that vehicles keep to their side of the road.

Slightly narrower - and no line! Junctions are marked with lines too, but I didn't photograph any today.

Only half an hour, but at a good speed, and I felt so much better at the end of it. The leaves are beginning to fall from the trees, but there are still plenty left.

Onwards and Upwards, Sparkeroonies. Don't forget to vote . See you all tomorrow.

Love your rose! I just adore the scent of garden-roses (and wild roses too). They are so much more crisp and fragrant than the ones available at the florists.

And you are so right, those short but sweet brisk walks are really refreshing!

That rose is just gorgeous! You don't seem to have much color change in your leaves yet either. I think we may get some nice colors by the weekend as it's supposed to take a turn towards chilly and rainy. The wind was high today. Big gusts. I was thinking how nice it will be to not have all those leaves to rake up in the backyard this year since the trees were cut down. Nice change to pace to see some of your urban neighborhood-and your long shadow popping up

Now I feel homesick for the UK. We lived there for only 8 months but I really enjoy every moment of it. Enjoy.

What a great blog. I love the pics - especially the rose. I have red & pink bushes, but hope to get a yellow one next year. They're so beautiful!!!!

Oh I love being a sparkeroonie. When I was little I was an Ovaltini, but this is much better. I voted by the way.
