Surgery Tomorrow--But Keep Sparklin' Til I Get Back!!
Sunday, September 22, 2013
Hi and Happy Sunday Everybody! It has definitely been awhile since I have written a blog--and I like to always share a positive one and, in the long run, I sincerely hope my final outcome will be just that -- positive in the good way and ready to get back on the road to health once again.
Ready for my latest challenge? No worries, please. We're taking care of business and my health--just not in an overly pleasant way--but we'll get it done!
Here we go.....tomorrow I will be admitted into the hospital for open lung surgery. Over the past few weeks, and many various tests, a large mass has been discovered and is quickly increasing in size in the upper and middle lobe of my right lung. They are uncertain if it is damage due to Lupus, but the surgeon is thinking it looks more cancerous and hopes to be able to save as much of the lung itself as he can. My understanding is that the mass will be removed and also tissue sent for a quick biopsy while I'm on the operating table, which will then determine how much or what the next step will be. Regardless, the mass must be removed and/or treated -- so lung surgery is my only option at this stage. I am very confident in the surgeon as this is his specialty--high risk lung and heart surgeries--so I know that I have the right man for the job.
So, this evening I will be packing my bags and getting ready for check-in time tomorrow morning. With that, I won't be here sparklin' away with all of you wonderful friends until I'm able to and, mainly, until I can plug in and use my laptop. If all goes well, I should be home by next weekend and, trust me, I'll be here sparklin' with you all again.
I also want to thank a dear Spark friend, Pam, for sending me a beautiful shawl of comfort, which is already packed and will be my reminder of what wonderful friends I have met here.
You are all in my
to each and every one of you! Sparks friends are truly the best! No doubt about it! Sparks may be a website--but it is so much more to me! It is the sharing of the ups
and even the downs
-- but the
friendships gained are what it is all about!
Hugs to all!!!
