week in review, week ahead

it's been a tough and stressful week, with four days spent in the car and/or the city, which made both food choices and exercise/steps/miles difficult, but somehow we managed to fit it in. we (that's DH and me, he's in on all of this) managed to reach our goal of averaging 15,000 steps per day despite the short days in the city, and total miles over 40. only one day of running because of the travel, though - would like to get back to three days.

the restaurant days were good and bad - good because no snacking, bad, because,well, there is a tendency to eat too much, too salty, and probably more fat than usual. but now that we're home again we're back to cooking the healthy stuff. made a big pot of vegetable broth yesterday and soup with it for dinner. we have been enjoying wild mushroom sandwiches (mushrooms picked right here where we live) too. with the cooler weather, we're transitioning from salads to soups.

plan for the coming week:

steps: 15k average daily
miles: over 40 for the week
running: 3x
strength training: 3 x (can i do this?)
meal planning: now there's the question...

today: black beans soaking; leftover tomato soup, leftover white bean soup, leftover lentil salad.

    I like in your plan that it's quite measurable, so easy to tell how you did.
How often do you eat out and eat at home?
Since I'm on sparkpeople, I'm intentionally eat more at home, and it works.

    It is hard to fit healthy food and exercise in while you are traveling. Yet you did it! You sound happy at home and ready for a good day.

    well done both of you. i envy you the mushroom sandwiches. none round here yet (mushrooms, not sandwiches, of which there could be plenty).
am still working up to getting a fitbit. or might try the sp version, which is battery-run. decisions...

    Great job making the effort to get in your exercise even with your schedule! I love that dh is on board. Mine is good on weekends getting in a lot of steps with me. Today he and I completed our first half marathon. We did the walk/run thing, but are very proud we finished!
