5K Training Here We Come!

Sunday, September 22, 2013

I started my 5K training with hubbie, today. I am doing my training through Sparkpeople. I have to bump it up a little in order to be ready for the 5k for Habitat for Humanity. I officially sent in an applicant and the fees in for my husband and me, today. So excited! We plan on doing the Sparkpeople 5k as well, which will be 6 days later. I am cross training on the in between days of the training for walking. If it rains on the days we walk train, we are going to the mall to get out practice. I am going to be extra careful with balancing my diet plus staying within the calories and so forth. Just be praying for us, that nothing happens to cause us not to get to do all of this. It is so important to me to do the Habitat for Humanity 5k walk/run race. First off, it was one of my goals I set for myself. Secondly, I am doing it in memory of my sister. She would have been my biggest cheerleader to accomplish it. I am wearing a pink ribbon for breast cancer. My sister had breast cancer surgery three years ago. Right before she died, she had found out the cancer had come back. It was not the cancer that caused her death, though. emoticon

Good for you! You know I'm right behind you, cheering you on. You can do this.

Did you know that I worked for Habitat for Humanity International for 14 years? And I served on the board of directors for the local Habitat for Humanity where I work for 3 years. They are a great organization to support. Good for you.

Great job on signing up for the 5K? Where is the 5K for Habitat for Humanity? I love that charity but didn't realize they had 5Ks. I'm going to sign up for a Thanksgiving one to benefit a local scholarship fund in memory of my brother's high school wrestling coach, but I would also be interested in doing a HH one, as well. Sorry about the loss of your sister. Have you ever considered the Susan Komen 3 day walk? That is something I would like to do at some point, because so many women in my family have had breast cancer, but I'm physically not ready at this point. I love the fact that you and your hubby are doing this together! emoticon
