I had my second Exploring Your Spiritual Journey Class this morning. An hour and forty minutes there, a three hour class and an hour and forty minutes back. The three hours in the class went fast. There was lively, interesting discussions. The traveling did not. But at least I had an audio book that I had been listening to that I finished on the drive - The Steven Tyler of Aerosmith autobiography. It's amazing that the guy is still alive! I found out something interesting - he wrote "Dream On" when he was 17.
I've had homework to do the past couple weeks in preparation for today's class. Read the Bible, say prayers, journal every day and read a book. The book is "Hearing God's Call: Ways of Discernment for Laity and Clergy" by Ben Campbell Johnson. At the end of each chapter are lists of questions to answer. It took me awhile to actually start the homework with the crazy month I've been having, so this week I had to play a lot of catch up. It's so easy to fall out of the homework habit - just like all the good health habits.
Before the next session, we have to finish reading the book and write a reflection paper on it that's at least a page long. I will make sure that I spend more time on the book and reading it. I haven't gotten too far and haven't spent as much time as I'd like on answering the questions. They are very thought-provoking and I love it.
The problem with today, though, is that it's already 4 pm and I haven't moved much yet. I invested in the Spark Tracker and it came yesterday. I had it on for a little while yesterday and remembered to put it on after I did my exercises this morning. It's very eye-opening. I now see that I have to get a little more serious about moving around. I suppose that's it's better to see it now and get back with the program instead of really falling into bad habits again. The cheap pedometer I have lulled me into a false sense of security. So, off I go!
