Summer 5% challenge

I weighed myself the morning the challenge was to start and found that I was up a couple pounds from what I had been a day or two before. I went with what the scale said that day because I don't want to start lying to myself about numbers on the scale. Today at the end of the challenge my weight was down two pounds from what it was yesterday. I feel like I'm cheating a bit when I say I lost 21 pounds during the challenge because going from a couple days before the challenge started to a couple days before it ended, I'm down 17 pounds. Either way, I've thrilled with the results and have committed to the fall 5% challenge.

The challenge was good for me. It made me accountable for my exercise each day. I know that my rapid weight loss is largely due to the exercise although I have been faithfully recording everything that goes into my mouth on my food journal. Those two things are my keys to success and I need to be sure to never forget. Both of those will be harder when I start working more.

Early this week I was struggling a bit. When I looked back on my journal I was within the calorie limit but I was eating too much snack food and too many carbs. I'm back to healthier eating now and feeling much more satisfied. Maybe I'm finally learning to listen to my body!
