Diaper Covers-Update and photos

Saturday, September 21, 2013

It's official! Baby Lina is using the biodegradable diaper inserts. Mom and Dad are thrilled with being parents, and I'm learning tons. I had no idea that parents have so many choices with diapers-cotton, flannel, wool, store bought, online, and then there are the inserts that go inside the diaper covers. I have about 10 options on the Babyville diaper covers.
Here is my first attempt:

Being a long distance sewing Gramma brings some obstacles. I have yet to hold my lovely little Lina. I can't see how the diapers covers fit, but I can tell a lot from the photo. The elastic on the legs needs to be tighter, and the Velcro on the waist needs to be looser.

I also learned that it is cheaper to buy the diaper covers than to make them, but this is my way to stay connected to my son and daughter-in-law, far away, and both in medical school.

Life is not perfect in my world, but we keep moving forward. That little baby face is just too cute to ignore!

Oh how adorable she is! And the diaper covers are so cute! A labor of love I know. You'll get the right pattern figured out. So glad you can stay connected in any way possible. I have some grandkids locally but also some out of state that I hardly ever get to see. It's hard being a long distance grandma!

How precious! Diapering has sure changed since my kids were that age! Cheaper to buy than to make huh? But I'm sure they appreciate it anyway!

Grandma, I think the diaper cover is adorable! She'll grow INTO it (even if the legs right now are a little big for her!) What a beautiful girl! Daddy is going to have to fend off the boys when she gets older!!
