Today was the first day of DH's vacation.
No sleeping in for us!
We started out early because the guy with the backhoe was coming at 9 and we wanted to double check the dimensions of the new pond site.
Temp was in the 50's and the sun was just peeking through the trees . . . coffee was a necessity!
I started digging the pond last Spring. Well, it started out as a diversion ditch to keep the rain water away from the foundation of the house . . . . and well, it's taken on it's on identity. But I really like the way it's coming along.
As I watched the backhoe work it's magic, I thought about all the hours I put into digging the first part of that hole . . . and it took me back to how far I've come physically.
Four years ago, when DH was reworking the waterfall on the big pond, I could not even lift a brick to help him without intense pain. No way in the world could I have lifted a shovel to dig the hole that I started last Spring.
I'm really thankful that I didn't have to dig the rest of it! What took him 2 hours would have taken me years!!!! So now, we have the beginnings of what will be approximately 75 feet of a dry creek bed in the summer, but when the rains come, it will be a real working diversion ditch, nicely landscaped of course, which will flow into the new pond, which will in turn spill over and flow into the garden, rather than under the house. How fun!
I am SOOOOOO thankful for SparkPeople! By using the trackers, videos, articles, etc. along with the encouragement from my SparkFriends and Teams, I'm at a place that I thought I'd never be! I feel better than I have in years and am able to do so much more than I ever thought I would be able to!
So, on to the next project
