Can't believe how much concentrated carbs I was eating

It has been an interesting week now that I'm avoiding concentrated carbs. So the coworkers brought in homemade dessert one day and then donuts the other. Normally, I don't pass up on free food, and so it's not unusual for me to start with 2 donuts in the morning and if there are any leftovers, I'd 'help' out or it'd go to waste. LOL. Then there's the free bagels on Monday which carries on through Tue and Wed if they are still any good and if I don't have any starchy foods handy that day. Yesterday, I had to buy some chocolate as a gift to visiting overseas worker. Once again, I found myself in strange situation as I used to get a package or two of Hershey's (commercial size) and ate the whole thing in a few days. So I passed on all the free foods and didn't get any Hershey's milk chocolate with Almonds for myself. What in the world is this?

Adding all the wrong carbs at work with the other carbs at home like rice, pizza and pastas and I'm just amazed at the quantity. No wonder I couldn't lose any weight despite hard exercises when I had the time a few years ago.

I'm not against carbs from fruits and vegetables. I'm just trying to eliminate the wrong carbs like grains and sugars.

    Good for you! I haven't eaten bad carbs in such a long time and I find it so much easier to maintain my weight by not eating them. and the good news is that I don't crave them at all anymore.

    I do not understand what people have against grains? I mean, yes, it should preferrably be whole grains, like wheat bread, or brown rice, etc. Grains overall are good for you, even if they can be a bit calorie dense. But if all I lived on what veggies and fruit, I would have to eat constantly.

    I am on my last 20 lbs to lose. And I have to look at my LDL's and work on getting that lowered, meanwhile bring up my HDL's. Not sure what a role grains have in doing so. I like my oatmeal in the morning, but have since had fruit once in a while for breakfast. How is seeds? Like flax or sunflower, I love both of those. I already don't eat dairy, sugars or any refined foods, what else should I give up? lol Do you eat meats? I know I need more iron to help bring up the HDL's. Dark leafy greens have it, but you would have to eat tons!! And I know meats have the protein needed but I don't eat any red meat, just poultry and fish. I am in a fight for the next 3 months, because I am determined to have a clean slate. emoticon

    My work's been brutal lately too, cheesecake, fancy pastries, pizza, homemade bread etc. etc. and that's the snacks. I've succumbed to temptations a couple of times, but really, I would rather people just brought their own foods.
