Let's Rock The Weekend

Happy Friday to ya! It's been a week! Lots swirling in my head this week, weighing me down like I've been carrying the Acme Anvil all week (Bugs Bunny reference).

It got to the point where my mind raced to places it absolutely did not need to go and I felt the churning in my stomach. I had to put a stop to that. Good thing it was a sunny morning that day. I hit the walking path at work and then found a quiet place to do a little quick meditation... breath in slowly for four counts, hold it for two, breathe out for four counts. Learning to meditate is one of my September goals. it's going slowly. I'm kind of wired for sound!

Every workout I did this week was a struggle to get started but the important thing is I got through it and the endorphin release impoved my mood each time. Yesterday I planned to run and I felt good, I set my HIIT time for some intervals and off I went.

It was pretty warm and I quickly realized I didn't have the energy I thought I had but the music on my playlist helped. Music has always played a huge part in my life. I have to have music playing all the time. Lyrics and rhythms move or soothe me depending on my mood.

Toward the end of my run yesterday, Magic Power came on by Triumph, one of my favorite bands in high school! I got the burst of motivation I needed to finish.

The weekend goals are to...

continue getting my five freggies in (always a challenge on the weekend)
get a run in on Saturday in addition to the two-a-day dog walks
continue working on the 11-min plank routine I learned from spark member CGG111

    This week I felt sluggish too - maybe it is in the air. I got some exercise in, but it was a struggle to start each time.
    I am glad that you overcame your negative thoughts - and found exercise and meditation as a source of release.
    Hope your run on Saturday will be great - I will be running 'with' you as well!

    I'm kinda wondering about that 11-Miute Plank routine too. You have mentioned it a couple of times now. My physical therapist just added a beginners plank to my routine so I'm thinking it might be something I want to work towards.

    Tonight will be my least Sparkling part of the weekend as we are eating out with friends and then walking the downtown streets in Holland to see the Mime Competition. Saturday I am volunteering at an Ice Cream Social, but ice cream hasn't been much of a temptation to me lately. Not long ago it was at least a once a week item especially during the summer. The rest of Saturday and Sunday will be spent with family so I will have better control of the food options.
