Thursday - 19 September

Thursday, September 19, 2013

Today was a good day. I am feeling much better than Tuesday. I was feeling better yesterday and so was able to go to work. It was nice to not feel so crummy. I still have a little bit of a cough but nothing like Monday afternoon and Tuesday. The day to rest really did work wonders. I took it easy yesterday too. I only got in a little over 10,000 steps. I got in a little over 13,000 steps today. Hopefully, I'll be feeling good enough next week to get in 10 miles each day.

My work is doing "Race Around the World" where employees of IHG pledge to walk, run, bike, swim or whatever else they can think of to get in kilometers. I have pledged to do 128km between 23-30 September. For every kilometer pledged the company will donate $1 to the IHG Shelter In a Storm Fund that helps IHG Employees and communities impacted by natural disasters. Last year when we did the Race Around the World over 300,000 km were pledged and the company had promised if 150,000km were pledged they would donate $150,000 to the Shelter In A Storm Fund but when we double that in pledges the company decide to match it all the way to the $300,000. That money has been used to help over the past year those effected by the Tornado in Oklahoma, the floods in the Philippines, and many other disasters that have impacted our people and the communities in which they work and live. I am really proud to work for such a great company that cares for its people and where the employees care for each other too.

Wish me luck for getting my miles/kilometers in next week. emoticon
