I have officially lost 1/3 of my body weight. Thatís 125 pound in a little over 9 months. And as I look back on that time, I see there are a few things I never expected and no one ever told me about.
1. Losing weight is expensive-Iím not talking about the cost of food and a gym membership. By comparison, those are pretty low. What Iím talking about is the cost of Clothes. In the past 9 months, Iíve dropped 3 shirt sizes and 6 pant sizes. None of my clothes fit anymore. I think Iíve bought more clothes in the past nine months than I have in my entire life. Hundreds and Hundreds of dollars worth. Every time my wife and I drive by a particular department store, we stop and buy more. And the worst part is, I have another 75 pounds to go before my final goal, which means more sizes dropped, and more clothes purchased.
2. I can no longer control my temperature-Even when itís sunny and warm outside, Iím freezing. Iíve taken to wearing my jacket (the new one I had to buy, and the only one that I have that fits me), all day, every day. Then at some point during the day, Iíll get really hot, and nothing seems to cool me down.
3. Peopleís Questions Change-At first, itís why are you doing this. Then itís how are you doing this, and finally, itís are you doing this on purpose or are you sick. No, seriously, people are starting to ask me that. Let answer it now. No, Iím not sick, Iím dedicated.
Iím not complaining. The benefits definitely outweigh the negatives. I feel better, I sleep better. Doing everyday activities like tying my shoes is easier. I highly recommend beginning a program yourself; just remember to expect the unexpected.
