This morning I picked up my mom and she had a CT scan on her back and hips. Then we went to Perkins for a quick bite to eat. It was getting pretty dark and windy out and the power went out while we were at Perkins. We were able to get our food, one of the last meals made before the power went out. They didn't charge us for the food which was nice, and then the restaurant was closed since they couldn't cook. We then went to get my mom's glasses some new lenses ordered. We tried moving the bifocal up more, bit that did work, so am having the bifocal moved back down. At least it is no charge.
Back to the CT scan clinic to pick up CD's of her scans. One copy for dr and one for chiro- was thinking ahead on this. Dropped off the one CD at the Dr and later dropped off the other CD when Jim went to the chiro after work.
Called the state to find out when my moms property tax refund was coming- thought it was late. Found out they are getting mailed out during the next 3 weeks. So that should be okay. While looking for the phone number, I found her LAST years property refund check! Almost $1000 check tucked into the tax folder. The check is still good so will get that deposited. So glad I found for her. Will try to be more diligent on keeping track of these things for her.
Jim home from work, did our walk and then went to his chiro appointment with him. His back is feeling better, will just take some time. Picked up some dog food for Maggie and then home to relax and listen on radio.
Just as we left on our walk, one of the Community Officers stopped by our house to tell us the city had had a complaint on our dog barking. News to us- greyhounds generally don't bark and no one has ever said anything in the 8 years we have had her. The officer was very nice, he saw the dog in the house as we chatted in the driveway. He saw she wasn't barking and he also heard the neighbors door on the corner. They have a coon hound and that dog barks alot outside and it carries throughout the block. Plus they have a German Shepard and the two dogs are outside alot, behind a big wood fence. So no one would see the, but would hear them. We think the new neighbors a house down from us may have called it in and just assumed it was our dog since they can't see the other dogs. The officer said he would report the corner house to the other city as the other side of our street is in a different city than ours. Hopefully the issue will be resolved. The barking is annoying, but I guess we have just ignored it after all these years.
Turned out to be sunny and humid after all the rain in the morning. But at least we got a good drenching rainfall out of it. We never lost our power for once.
