I am so proud! For the 2nd year in a row I participated in my company's 5K race. It was an absolutely beautiful day. Perfect temperature, just the right amount of breeze. I invited one of my walking buddies to come along with me and she agreed. This meant that I wasn't going to finish too fast (last year I came in 2nd place in my age group) but we got a chance to really catch up with each other. We were able to chat most of the way and still finish in 46:47, fairly respectable 15 minute miles.
There were some really good vendors with some awesome give aways. REI was there and I got some carabiners ( I love them because I can hang my water bottle off a belt loop and keep my hands free). Sports Basement had water bottles and a raffle for a $50 gift card and the Sunnyvale Environmental services folks had those clever shopping bags that fold up into a little pouch that fits in your purse. I also got a new little bottle of hand sanitzer from the Stanford blood center people, a piece of really yummy coffee cake from my favorite breakfast place and our fitness center has enough lockers so you can put all of the stuff away and participate unencumbered.
All together it was an awesome day!
