Kicking-It Up!!

Thursday, September 19, 2013

You have heard the saying - when you are comfortable it is time to step it up. Well, when I finished the 5K I felt great with jogging thru the finish line. Now I go out for my walk/jog and pick a telephone pole and jog to it. If I feel comfortable I go further. I stop when I get tired and walk. I have been doing this now for almost two weeks and I feel really good.

Last night I was out jogging when my son drove by yelling "Way to go Mom!" It made me happy to have my son's support. Then he came back from the house to take my youngest to his Boy Scout meeting. Both of them were yelling out the windows "You are doing great Mom!" What an awesome cheering section I have. It doesn't get any better than that!!!

My son had his X-C Meet Tuesday night so hubby and I went to watch it. This year he is on the Varsity Team so we are super excited for him. I cheered the boys thru and clapped them onward. The coach saw Danny running around the track and started to tell me how he just wants to beat the other team who are local rivals. I told the coach to relax Danny still has time to pass them, the race just begun!! With that I walked away from him. I focused on his run and how well he was doing. I could not believe how fast he is. He came in at his best time yet - 21:01!! And yes he did pass the local rivals. The coach was there at the finish line saying "That is how you do it!! Way to go Danny!!"

The other morning Danny, Justin and I were having breakfast when Danny said "Boy, all this hard work does pay off!!" All I could say was yes it does!! He put in over 300 miles of running over the summer, now he is seeing the results of all that running.

So keep moving forward everyday!! If I can, so can you!!

Here is Danny at an X-C Meet!!

It's never a bad idea to amp it up a little so long as you aren't hurting. GO GO GO

Your blog brought tears to my eyes. I know just how it feels to have supportive boys cheering you on and how proud you must be while cheering Danny on.

Congrats to you both for your accomplishments!

What fun for your family to be able to support each other as runners! Way to go!

It was hearing your words "If I can do it, so can you" that encouraged me to complete my first ever 5K this year! Thanks.
