I was just looking up some stuff about pedometer walking today, and am writing these notes so I can find the info again.
Some of it comes from the article here: http://www.prevention.com/fitn
Walking 2000 steps burns about 100 calories.
Walking 6000 steps more than I usually do starts the weight loss.
4-8 calories per minute are burned when you walk at a moderate pace, depending upon your weight.
If your baseline steps per day are 5001-7500, aim for 10,000 steps per day.
If 7501-10,000, aim for 12,500.
If 10,001-12,500, aim for 15,000.
If 12,501-15,000, aim for 17,500.
If 15,001-17,500, aim for 20,000 per day!!!
I can't imagine doing more than 10K steps a day at this point, but we'll see as time goes on.
