Something I've Wanted All My Life

Thursday, September 19, 2013

She looked me in the eye and said, "You know a couple years ago when your husband was telling you that he thought you'd lost too much weight I almost chimed in to support him. But then you said, 'I've wanted to be slender all my life.' You said it with such passion that I knew you were meant to be slender. Now I think it looks really right on you."

Smile.

That is wonderful. After time people accept you as thin. Good for you.

emoticon emoticon Vindication! It does look good on you!
I think a lot of our loved ones get 'sticker shock' when they realize we are no longer the fat person they were used to and all of a sudden are looking dramatically different. Dramatically 'normal', not underweight!

I got a few of those comments when I first reached goal, too. Now, I get the "I can't remember you heavy" comments, and it feels great, doesn't it?

Celebrating that you knew back then what YOU wanted for yourself and did what it took to obtain it and hold onto it. It's wonderful when others approve of us; truly, don't believe we could live without at least SOME human approval, but it is essential that we approve of and are true to ourselves.

Celebrating Marsha! emoticon

Very cool! People initially told me that I was too skinny also, now that I have become accustomed to this weight I think that I want to lose more so my running gets better.
That must have felt great! Good for you!

It takes people a while to adjust and realize that we're not necessarily fanatics and/or anorexic. And the fact that we keep on watching our diet and exercising isn't because we're still trying to be even "skinnier", but because we know we need to in order to prevent going back to where we started -- You have been a motivator to many!
