Streak day 9 and the rest of the labs are in

Thursday, September 19, 2013

Well, my health hour streak plan for today (and mood) got side tracked when I called the doctor and found out that the rest of my labs came back and I've got hypothyroidism. They're starting me on 50mcg of levothyroxine and will recheck me in about 6 weeks.

So I spent the rest of the hour researching alternative therapies and finding out that though not impossible, it is more difficult than I am willing to focus on at the moment. Especially when I haven't even picked up the multivitamin and vit D that the doc ordered previously. *sigh*

I guess I have to start taking meds because I do not want to have any of the complications of hypothyroidism. Drats!

Now I'm wondering how long I've had the hypothyroidism and what caused it: Hashimoto's or iodine-deficiency or something else?

Anyway, I'm gonna go make myself get busy doing laundry or paperwork and listening to music and distract myself from worrying...'cause there ain't no point in that, right?

Some people are born with an underactive or overactive thyroid. There are many things that can happen in the body that will cause other parts/systems to have problems. You could drive yourself crazy looking for an answer that isn't worth finding. Taking a medication isn't the end of the world, especially if it helps. If they don't work or if the side effects are too much then the doctor can look into it more.

Also, don't forget that worrying can actually cause physical symptoms, so focusing too long and hard on this could lead to more issues. And get the vitamins and vitamin D! That can make quite a difference.

Worrying definitely don't change things usually just adds to them. talk with your doctors, follow their advice, and do whatever you need to take care of yourself. Prayers for understanding and guidance to take control of your health and peace and comfort to know everything is going to be all right.
