Thought and Prayer for Thursday, September 19, 2013

Thursday, September 19, 2013

We have always heard to hate the sin and not the sinner. That is so true. We all sin. We all fall short of God’s will for us. Jesus was and is the only Perfect One. So when others do wrong, it is not for us to judge or hate them. We are told to love, help and pray for them. We can’t help them do what is right when we judge and hate them. We need to show them mercy just as God as shown it to us.

Jude 1:23 “Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, You tell us not to judge and to help others not to judge as well. We don’t know all the reasons for a situation. We don’t know what Your will is all the time for others. Help us to show mercy to others and to be sure we are hating the sin and not the sinner. Help us to pray for, help and love others when they do wrong so we can gently bring them back to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

When we hate the sin and not the sinner, we can focus on loving them and helping them get back on track.

When we hate the sin and not the sinner, it will bring us clarity on what God wants us to do.

When we hate the sin and not the sinner, we can better show love rather than judgment.

When we hate the sin and not the sinner, we are following the example of Jesus.

When we hate the sin and not the sinner, we can help others by praying and lifting them up to God.

Psalm 97:10 “You who love the LORD, hate evil! He protects the lives of his godly people and rescues them from the power of the wicked.” (NLT)

Great blog! Thanks for the reminder not to judge our neighbor! You are so right that we don't know the entirety of God's plan for others. We may be the one He puts in their path to help bring them to Him! We can't do that if we are busy judging them and what they do or don't do. emoticon emoticon
