Day 172 - Sprained My Ankle

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

I was having such a good week with exercising too! Yesterday I jogged mostly 10 miles! I did the first 5 miles in the morning and the second 5 miles in the late afternoon. I definitely felt it last night and a bit this morning. So, I just walked 5 miles in beautiful weather.

After work, my husband wanted to grill before our usual walk. It was dark outside. My daughter's cats were in our home (she moved her cats here today) and I was not sure if they would bolt outside when I opened the back patio door. I forgot to switch on the light. I decided to cautiously go down the deck stairs and I missed the last step.

Down I went hard on my left ankle. I fell on the concrete patio and the wet grass. My foot was in such pain! Thank God I did not feel or hear bones breaking!

My husband got to me and helped me inside. I can barely put any pressure on it.

I am so hoping I can walk on it by Saturday! I have that zombie race that day and I am going to be dressed up as a zombie! My husband doesn't want me to do it since I may re-injure my ankle. Sigh....

Well, there just went my walking / jogging... For a while at least. Now I guess I need to figure out other types of exercises to do for upper body strength....hmmmmm.......

Also, I was on a Sparkpeople challenge where the 5K run was this week! I want to earn my trophy!!!! LOL. Well, I guess that is going to wait too...

Major sigh.....

Rest it and keep it elevated. Ease back in when the swelling goes down. Maybe you will feel up to walking the 5k on Sunday.

    Take care.

Oh No emoticon ! Keep it iced, rest it and keep it leveled. I know how badly you want to be on the move, but right now you just need to rest it and take it easy! emoticon

I'm so sorry to hear about your injury. Lots of ice and ibuprofen! Hopefully you will be as good as new in just a few days. Glad it's not broken. emoticon
