Day 3

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

Another weird day. I'm getting some things done but hmmmm.... I'm still feeling a bit lost with the kids back in school. Joe and I are getting very serious about saving money. We have spent quite a bit on the boys extra's for voice lessons, dance lessons, orchestra participation and percussion lessons. Yup. It's catching up on us and we are cutting back. I'm making dinner every night and lunches everyday for everyone. I've even gone back to my good old coffee maker instead of the Keuregg i"ve come to rely on. I'm hoping that in time that will make a difference. We have cut back sooooo much on going to the movies and going out to eat. We've been on this route for about a year now. We really don't want me to be working outside the home for another 2 full years. Once our youngest is a senior and has his license I won't be so needed and I can get a full time job. Joe's job is so crazy with hours that he is just too unpredictable to help around the house. Any other savings suggestions my sparks? I know there is a Spark team for this. I think I'll look it up. Thanks for listening!

Our church had a FREE Dave Ramsey course. If you can find the course or buy one of his books, you will really cut back!!

coupons and using store brand items comes to mind. You can save all kinds of money in little ways. Shopping early on weekend mornings sometimes finds marked down meets that you can buy much of and freeze for later.

I'm pretty sure there is a budgeting page on this site. Not sure where, but I'm sure if you look around you'll find it.

Always been cutting back to the point that I don't know where to cut back anymore. My eldest is in grade 12. The next grade 11 and 9 and 7. Things are changing here too.

Not sure what to do with myself either. Thought about becoming a teacher assistant, but then I'm just not up to snuff health wise.

No more extra lessons. No more going out to eat and just enjoy watching movies at home. Things add up so fast.

Take care.

Great job doing the footwork to reach your goals!! How I budget is by percent like 10-20% entertainment and 10-20% savings I usually divide my money in zip lock bags lol. I call it financial kindergarten. I like to see it and divide it so I get my bills paid and don't overspend. It probably isn't for everybody but, if your not good with math and if your a hands on person it helps you get involved with money realities. emoticon
