New inspiration!

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

My 12 year old daughter recently joined the cross country team at school. The girl who complains about her legs hurting after a day at the zoo. The girl who complains about being tired during a hike in the woods.

This girl ran a 2 mile race yesterday. She didn't win - but she finished the race! I'm so proud of her. I had tears in my eyes as she passed me on the final leg to the finish line. My girl RAN! (yes she walked a bit) but still she ran!

As I headed out for my wog (walk/jog) this morning I thought of her and her pushing herself to finish even though she was tired. I ran longer during my jog sprints and faster. Yes, I still walked but the jogging part was much longer than it has been in the past. I did 2 miles in 30 minutes. No, I'm not breaking any records. But like my daughter, I ran and I finished!

That's great and sounds like a lovely way to connect with your daughter as you will be able to work on your running times and distances.

Isn't it odd that the things we desire them to do they seem like it is too hard. Let them have the desire and BAM they are off & finishing races... Tears in my eyes for you too because my youngest (16yrs old) is the same, complains from bug bites but wants to go out for every sport there

God bless & enjoy the wog!
