How we look at things today

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

A young couple moves into a new neighborhood. The next morning while they are eating breakfast, the young woman sees her neighbor hanging the wash outside. "That laundry is not very clean; she doesn't know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap." Her husband looks on, remaining silent. Every time her neighbor hangs her wash to dry, the young woman makes the same comments. A month later, the woman is surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and says to her husband: "Look, she's finally learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this? " The husband replies, "I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows." And so it is with life... What we see when watching others depends on the clarity of the window through which we look.

This is so true, Eileen! A good lesson to all. God says that we are not to judge our fellow man because we ourselves are flawed! How can we judge others when we have so many of our own faults?

Our perception is created through our experiences. We can never experience events exactly as someone else does, because our previous experiences will shape how we view what's happening. How we react to our situation will also shape how we view what's happening. Sometimes we need to stop and clean our windows before passing judgement on what's happening outside of ourselves.

This is certainly so true. It brought to mind the book I am reading at the present, and a true story. Long story short, the women remembers asking her mother what was wrong with a child they say. Her mother told her that the child is handicapped and doesn't have control of how she is. Then when this young girl marries and has four children three are special needs children. She remembers asking about the other child back in her childhood. She then realises how her prospective has changed. Still reading the book and so far would love to sit and finish the book, natually, there are many other things that need getting done that have to hope I can squeeze in some reaing tomorrow.
