Its finally sinking in!

Tuesday, September 17, 2013

I was doing some thinking this morning, and I think i am finally getting this "diet thing" ! Day after day, year after year, I was been beating myself up for not being able to "loose weight" like other people, "look skinnier" than other people. I would get on the scale with no change, I would be so discouraged I was ready to give up yet again! I have been working at this now for 17 weeks and thanks to the help and motivation from SP, Its finally sinking in.. This is not a diet program, it is a LIFE CHANGING event...You will have good days and bad, but you must KEEP GOING! Don't depend on the scales to determine your weight loss, go by how you feel and how your cloths fit! If I can say one thing to help someone else, It would be .... everyone is different, what works for others may not work for you. Find what works for you and stick with it! You WILL see the difference if you keep going! emoticon

So true! A diet is a temporary thing. Overweight folks have to learn a new way of living involving healthy habits instead of making the same choices that caused our problems in the first place. Congrats on 17 weeks - you are on your way to a better life!

Yep, you got it. This is a life style change, not a diet. This is not something you go off after a while. That is why you do not make drastic changes that only last a few weeks. You have to make changes you can stick with for the long haul. Yes, you will have good days, bad days. There will be holidays, birthdays. You will have a day where you want a desert or you don't feel like working out. But for the most part, you will log your food and have more calories out than in and you will lose weight and get to a healthy weight and then work on maintenance. Some people lose quickly, others like me, lose more slowly, and I'm just fine with that. So hang in there, and you will get to where you want to be!
