Week 2-Aspire & Inspire "Forget-Me-Nots" --Nicest Thing Someone Has Done For Me

Monday, September 16, 2013

The nicest thing anyone has done for me was last spring when the students who I was a foster grandma to, presented me with a book they had made, just for me. On each page was a set of footprints. Each of the students had their own page, colored in footprints, drew pictures and wrote things on each of their pages ( I had over 125 students, so the book was pretty thick.) I received it on Awards Day, in front of the whole school. When I got it, there were tears coming down my cheeks. I cried when I was telling them Thank You. That was a very, very special day, and one I will never forget. It felt like no other feeling I had ever felt before. It touched me in a way I didn't think I would ever feel. I am trying to do things for others, help out when I can, and of course, I have gone back to be "foster grandma" for another year. I am hoping I can again make a difference in some of the kids' lives. What they give me is probably more than I could ever give them.

I love when we get back so much more than we give. You are always giving of yourself with your support. You are so deserving of such a heart filled gift. I love the thought that went into it! Kids can be so clever and make such a difference to others. I'm sure your tears were empowering to them...they saw how their choices affects others, this time for the positive.

Good for you for reaching out to the kids. We need more people like you in the world. emoticon

What an inspirational gift, one I'm sure you will treasure all of you life. You have made quite an impression on your "grandchildren", leaving a mark on their lives that no one else can imitate.

Barbie, that is wonderful that you fostered school children. It was sweet of them to show their appreciation by making you a book. Wonderful memories.

What an awesome blog. This was a very touching story and I am sure you bless their lives as much as they bless you. I would love doing something like that. I hope this year is as blessed as last year's was.

I think it's great that you do that volunteer work. I've always gotten back more than I have given when I do it selflessly. I'm sure those kids need one more person to love them...don't we all? God Bless You Real Good for filling a need!
