Basil green smoothie

Basil green smoothie
Basil, fresh 3-4 leaves
Green grapes, 1 large handful
Mandarin oranges, three wedges (plus 1/4 c. syrup optional)
Kale, handful of torn leaves
Romaine hearts, large handful of leaves
A couple dollops of greek yogurt

Add 4 ice cubes and blend.

My next project is to find more smoothies that feature herbs and spices, such as basil, mint, ginger, and cayenne. The basil made all the difference for the smoothie above. I recently started eating romaine hearts, and didn't know how sweet they were, and will make them a regular addition to my smoothies.

I'm in a breakfast rut and may go on a smoothie streak. Green smoothies are a great way to increase my veggie intake and also feel like I am eating for my health.

I need to be a bit more aware of the tradeoffs of making a tasty but calorie dense smoothie that is more of a meal than a snack. It's a process of trial and error, figuring out the right combos and proportions -- but a fun one!
