What Goes Around...

Monday, September 16, 2013

One of my daughter's friends came to her graduation from high school (my daughter's), and announced that she (the friend) had gotten married that day, much to our surprise. It wasn't a shotgun wedding, but I confess that I didn't think it was a smart move seeing how young they were, nor did I give the marriage much of a chance...

Here it is, now 16 years later, and I see the young couple regularly, and they are such fine upstanding parents in their mid 30's. The husband spent 10 years in the military, and would have made a career of it had he not been injured, and is a great guy....with a fourteen year old daughter.

Yesterday, after church, I saw him intently watching her visiting with a boy from church, and I remarked, "Wow! How quickly they grow up!!!"

He nodded his head, moving slightly to make eye contact with me before returning his gaze to her again.

"How are you feeling about that, Dad?" I queried....

"That's why I'm keeping an eye on her!!," he responded with a grin.

I couldn't help smiling, too, ....What goes around, comes around, I guess, and the child is father of the man... emoticon
