A Challenge To Myself

Voted Popular Blog Post: View All Popular Posts

I've been at a plateau for quite a while now. Its frustrating, but I am hanging in there. I'm not about to give up on trying to reach my goal! I'm ready to start working harder than ever. I've given myself a challenge; to see how much progress I can make before New Years Day.

The holiday season is almost upon us. ( I actually saw my first Christmas commercial last week! ) And while I know that the holidays make it harder to stay on track, I am committed to doing just that! I'm using this site to countdown to New Years Day;

www.timeanddate.com/coun
ters/newyear.html

As I sit here writing this blog, there are 106 days until the new year! That seems like a long ways off, but I know the time will fly by, and I want to make the most of those days. I want to make progress!

My "plan of attack" is to track my food religiously; to weigh and measure my portions; to try to eat as healthy as possible (which means cutting down on processed food as much as I can); and to put my best effort into my workouts!

Cue the Rocky Theme Song music! I'm getting strong now, and when New Years Day comes, I won't have to make a resolution, because I will already be doing what I know I need to do! I'm excited by this challenge, and I look forward to seeing just how much progress I can make in the next 106 days!

This is a great challenge! I am currently picking myself up after a very unmotivated couple of months; you've inspired me to think about setting up some new challenges of my own! Thanks!

    A good resolution!

I've been a delinquent tracker this week.

Don't know whether this is something that would interest you, but I did see a recently released study that suggested that switching caloric intake so that the major lump of calories came in at breakfast almost doubled weight loss. The people in the study did the same amount of exercise and ate the same amount and type of calories, but some participants did most of their calories in the morning (including dessert!) and the the others did it like the rest of us do, at night. Not sure I could do that, though. It's tough enough to get my oatmeal prepped and downed...

Dec. 31st here we come! We have just enough time to get our acts together and show what we are made of. I love that Countdown Clock. I've got it on my Desk Top and it will be open everyday.
Again, a great blog. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to share the journey with you.

Keep on going!! I know what a plateau can do to you but think of it this way, if you aren't gaining then you are doing well. I have that philosophy and that I need a plateau to let my skin catch up to my body's changes!! Keeps my mind off not losing!! Great blog!! Thanks for sharing!

As Inspirational as ever Pixie - and what a great blog.

I personally plateaued for a good month during August where I changed quite a lot of the food I was eating and now the weight has started to drop yet again albeit slower than before.

I am personally eating more fresh food than I did before, have replaced many breakfast cereals with Porridge that I put dried fruit and berries in and have now started to include the odd slice of Toast and natural peanut butter. Also natural freshly squeezed fruit juices have replaced old fruit juices that were made from concentrate. The differences have been that I feel fuller sooner and have even more energy than before.

It sounds that like me you are building things a day at a time.

Concentrate on the ounces and the small things, and you will find the pounds and the big things will look after themselves.

Hold in there - I am on this long walk with you and we're batting on the same team and we have victory in our minds and determination in our hearts.

Cheers

Trev

    I am with you!

I want to hit my goal weight in 2013 -- about 15 pounds to go. After this hiking trip to Peru, we will be staying HOME for the rest of the year, and I'm stoked to get 'er done!

Nothing is ever accomplished by waiting.

Great goals and great idea. I love the idea of not putting off the "resolutions" until the new year. Each day is a new start. Each meal is a new start.

I need to walk more and get back to the pool and cut back on food again to move to the 20 lbs. by the end of this week. I'm tired of the plateau and want to move off it!!
