Reaching Your Dreams

Recently, I’ve been reading the book, “Put Your Dream to the Test” by John C Maxwell. This book and years of life experience have really opened my eyes to what it means to dream, reach, and achieve. Like so many I believed that it was luck that you needed to be successful. If I could meet the right person, I’d have the perfect job. If this, then that sentences. I think this is very common because I see it with some people across the board. If I just get this big promotion, I’ll be great. One thing I have learned is that luck really has nothing to do with reaching a dream. It is your action plan achieved through daily steps that reaches dreams.

Think about that last sentence for a moment. Reaching your dream is done through daily actionable steps, NOT through luck. It wasn’t until I truly understood that concept that I started to see results in life and achieve toward my dreams.

Take a marathon runner for example. They have to practice running everyday but more than likely you won’t see a first timer run out of the gate and complete all 26.2 miles. I say more than likely because there are exceptions to the rule in everything. Most people start slow and build their way up. It’s through the small runs daily that build up to the dream of running a marathon.

God teaches us to be discipline through our daily actions. It’s seen through-out the bible and his teachings.

Hebrews 12:11

For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Your ability to stay discipline through the daily actions is what will drive your success. Stop playing with a daily lottery mentality. Every time you go to work on your dreams you up the percentage to win your own lottery. Go to work on a consistent basis and you’ll almost guarantee success.

Simple Daily Actions that Promise Success

To lose weight ~ Eat health portions of food in ratios until you have built up a good number. 50/50 (50% junk/50% health) once you master that move on to 60/40,70/30, 80/20 etc. Improving your food choices everyday will result in a small waistline and better health.

EXERCISE ~ do this everyday! Whether stretching or weight lifting or running. Move every day for health! Does it have to be 60 minutes of craziness? NO! JUST MOVE!

Increase a skill everyday ~ Read a leadership book (10 pages a day), learn a new language (15 min a day),

Money ~ Instead of blowing your money, save up! Want a new car? Have discipline to save and buy one.
