I started a 30 day streak of not eating sugar treats and white flour. I had to restart it after the last second day as white flour called my name loud and clear. I read some where if you just say the name of the food for 45 seconds you can get to where it is not calling so loud. I tried that last night with bread and it worked. I also told myself that white bread is not what I should have bought for my home and would not do that again. I have a nice fresh loaf of whole wheat bread that I can make a nice sandwich with for any meal and I will soon. Last night for dinner I made a pork roast and all hubby wanted for dinner was a pork sandwich. All I wanted was a few slices of pork and a cup of grapes.
I do love sweet treats and have bought some greek yogurt with fruit on the bottom to eat after dinner. I also take a mile walk to the Starbucks to get my favorite drink that I can have made with non fat milk, sugar free syrup and no whip cream. The one I like the best is 200 calories for a grandee. I don't go every day but when I do I enjoy myself and do not feel any guilt.
Keeping off candy and cookies is hard but I tell myself it is only for 30 days and by Christmases I can eat my box of chocolates I like to have at this time of year but I will not over do it. I will think and plan how many I will eat each day. In the past I ate the whole box in one day and only gave hubby the four I don't like. This year I am going to buy the sugar free box and split it right down the middle with hubby. It comes in two layers that are the same on each layer so it will be easy to share.
If I think before I eat and eat in a mindfully way thinking about each bite, I can change the way I handle certain foods. Planning and thinking are the key.
