Day 655- Getting Used to How I Look

Monday, September 16, 2013

After years of unhappiness when I looked into the mirror, I am still struggling to get used to how I look.

When I look in the mirror these days, my face looks so much less swollen. And my arms and inner thighs are almost normal size now. And every now and then I get a vertical crease down the center of my stomach. Every time I notice these differences, I ask myself, is this how I'm meant to look?

I was on ESPN a few times during our game on Saturday, and my mom as well as a few other people said they barely recognized me, well except for the screaming face. That's been the same my entire life. What can I say, I love football!

I'm sure I'll eventually get used to my new normal, but sometimes I just think, is that really me?

You are gorgeous! My husband and I scored some floor seats to a Husker volleyball game Friday night, which was televised by our local station. My son watched it and texted me that he saw me on TV numerous times throughout the game. We recorded it and watched it when we got home. It's always surprising when I see myself, and realize I am no longer that big fat blob that I was for over 30 years. It's also very nice!

It's so cool that what brought you to SP was your image at a football game and now here you are and you look SO different. You should be so proud of yourself!

You do look completely different from your beginning pictures. I'm sure you'll eventually come to accept the new bod, they say it takes a while to believe it's really you.

Your doing great. Sometimes we are our own worse critic. Other people notice the change before ourselves. Enjoy and use the positive feedback you receive from others. Just by looking at your photos I see the difference. Keep up the good work emoticon emoticon

That's what's happening to me also! Last time I was walking by a shop having big glass doors and I was staring at a figure that reflected in the glass after a few seconds I realized it was myself! Than I realized why people tell me so much I did not recognize you because even me I did not recognize myself! It took a little time to accept my new body not to mention my extremely transformed face! But now I realized that this journey is not only physical but mentally too! We have to accept and love ourselves no matter what shape or size we are! That's what I've learnt! emoticon emoticon

emoticon It takes time to get used to the changes. Eventually you will. The brain is slow to see the changes in the body.
