Last Week / Lost Week

Late Friday (the 6th) my step-dad passed away. He had been in a nursing home for the past 2 years with Alzheimer's and a bad heart. He passed quietly and Mom, most of his kids, and myself were able to be with him. Saturday was a flurry of phone calls while arrangements were made. Monday evening, Mom and I traveled to Kentucky and the funeral was held on Tuesday.
We traveled back on Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday, we had to go to a visitation for my sister's nephew who died in an accident the same day my step-dad passed away.
On top of this, I was coming down with a cold and had to be back at work on Thursday. Saturday was Mom's birthday. Yesterday, I didn't do anything and felt bad all day. Today, I feel better than I have since this whole thing started.
It was a week of not enough sleep, not enough exercise, too much eating out, and a lot of stress. I'm getting back on track this morning. I know weeks like that will happen. The trick is to be gentle with ourselves when it happens then get back to a healthy lifestyle as soon as possible. It's not the end, just a detour.
