Listening skills are important in all we do. When we focus on listening more and talking less, we will learn so much. We learn what others need. We learn about things we don’t know. We learn self-control and patience when we let others talk and we listen. Good listening skills can help us not be self-absorbed but to be kind and giving to others. Listening to someone is one of the best free gifts we can give. Because God listens to us, we are to follow His example and listen to Him and to others.
Psalm 116:1-2 “I love the LORD because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!” (NLT)
Dear Lord, we thank You for listening to us. We thank You for hearing our prayers for mercy. We thank You for bending down to listen to our cries for help . Because You listen, we know we can pray and talk with You about anything. We also need to listen to You. You will give us wisdom, direction and peace when we take time to listen and to obey. Thank You, Lord, for listening and give us the listening skills to hear You and to help others today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
When we listen, we don’t have to worry about saying the wrong things.
Listening well requires practice. Take time to practice today.
When we listen more and talk less, God will reveal great things to us He wants us to hear.
If we take time to listen to someone today, it may be just the thing that person needs from us.
Taking time to listen is one of the greatest free gifts we can give another person.
Proverbs 12:15 “Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others.” (NLT)
