A great weekend

So yesterday's bike/run/zumba/bike went well.

I got up in plenty of time yesterday morning (thus the blog beforehand). Since I hadn't pre-registered, I still had an "out". But I didn't back out. I biked down to the park. I took it pretty easy, since I knew I had the run/walk to do. No line to register or to get my timing chip. Then I had about an hour to kill before the race started. I ended up seeing one of my Zumba instuctors there. She recently stopped holding classes at the Blaisdell Center and is only teaching at a gym now, so I don't see her much.

The race started and I took off at a very slow jog. Pacing has always been my weak point. I did my first mile in 14 minutes. The path was 1 2/3 around the park. I ended up by the finish line on my first time around just as the 1st place finisher finished. A marine who finished in about 19 minutes. When the race started, and everyone surged out ahead of me (or so it seemed), I wondered when everyone would start passing me! LOL!

Well at that point, I was more than a mile in, and I had run the whole time. So I kept running. I may have slowed down a bit, but I kept running. I finished in 45:21. Then there was about 1 1/2 hours until the Zumbathon.

I made sure to drink lots of water, and had a little to eat. I ended up doing about 45 minutes of Zumba. It was hot, and it was in the sun. And it was really crowded. Plus I knew I would have to bike home. So I peaced out.

And to keep the streak going, I even stayed within my calories yesterday. I weighed myself this morning and the scale is starting to go in the "right" direction. Further encouragement. I'm not counting it as an official weigh in though, since the morning after all that workout is probably a bit extreme.

Picked up my husband and 2 of our friends just a little bit. Tomorrow is back to work. I really need to make some breakfast sandwiches so that I don't go to campus center and get fried rice. I am planning to bike to work so I can go to my Zumba class right after work.

    My weekend was not so successful, but I was right back in the saddle again yesterday!
    Tried an aqua fitness class and boy, that is one good workout!! (which I knew it would be from years ago)
